The Period of Advent
Apr 21, 2010 -- 7:11pmWe as believers, the church, the Body of Christ, which we the followers of Jesus are, continue to celebrate this period of Advent. This is the forty day period following the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As I've mentioned before Jesus spent a total of forty (40) days here on earth with his disciples and others to encourage them in their belief of Him and his resurrection. I wanted them to know for sure that He did indeed rise fom the grave and had defeated death and by having faith in Him they to would do the same and be with Him in heaven as He had told them. He wanted to truly know that He was alive and well. So, not only did he talk with them, walk with them, pray with them and eat with them. He also continued to teach them prior to his ascention back to heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father as our advocate. When a Pastor/Preacher is praying and asking God for guidance as to what it is God would have him or her preach about to their congregations. They also must have a keen sense of what it is they want the people, the hears to do with the sermons information they receive.
At this point I'm sure you're wondering what it is I'm about to share with you from the Bible and then what I want you do after you have it in your posession. I'm look at scripture in the book of Luke starting in Chapter 8. There are three stories I want to direct your attention to that shows the power of God "at work in Jesus."First, in Luke Chapter 8 Verses 22 - 25 it shows the power of Jesus over nature. Secondly, in Luke Chapter 8 Verses 26 - 39 it shows His power over demons and then in Luke Chapter 8 Verses 40 - 56 scripture continues to show God's power at work in Jesus as the Master over sickness and death. Now, what do I want you to do with all of this once you take the time to read it? I want to you really begin to realize the POWER OF GOD through JESUS! He is all powerful, all loving, all conpassionate, all knowing and everything else I could possibly try and articulate. Our God is merciful and full of grace, while also being faithful. God healed my body of kidney cancer and I am now a fourteen year cancer survior living with one kidney. Most of you know my testimony, if not, take the time to get a copy of my book: The Gospel According To Rev. Walt "Baby" Love and get the complete story and testimony. That's why I want you to have a total understanding of God's power. God's Blessings.
In His Name,
Rev. Walt "Baby" Love
