Psalm 107

Jun 11, 2010 -- 1:39pm

Thankfulness to God is something we should always be aware of in our lives. We should thank God constantly because He has saved us. The best thing we can do is offer God a faithful and obedient life. This Psalm was written to celebrate the return of the Jews' from their exile in Babylon. God saved them and made a way for them to return back to their homeland.

Psalm 107 verses 1 - 9 and verses 17 - 22

1. Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His love endures forever.

2. Let the redeemed of the LORD say this - those he redeemed from the hand of the foe,

3. those he gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south.

4. Some wandered in desert wastelands, finding no way to a city where they could settle.

5. They were hungry and thirsty, and their lives ebbed away.

6. Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.

7. He led them by a straight way to a city where they could settle.

8. Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men,

9. for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. (Skip down to verse 17)

17. Some became fools through their rebellious ways and suffered affliction because of their iniquities.

18. They loathed all food and drew near the gates of death.

19. Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress.

20. He sent forth his WORD and HEALED them; he rescued them from the grave.

21. Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wornderful deeds for men.

22. Let them sacrifice thank offerings and tell of his woks with songs of joy.

The Period of Advent

Apr 21, 2010 -- 7:11pm

We as believers, the church, the Body of Christ, which we the followers of Jesus are, continue to celebrate this period of Advent. This is the forty day period following the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As I've mentioned before Jesus spent a total of forty (40) days here on earth with his disciples and others to encourage them in their belief of Him and his resurrection. I wanted them to know for sure that He did indeed rise fom the grave and had defeated death and by having faith in Him they to would do the same and be with Him in heaven as He had told them. He wanted to truly know that He was alive and well. So, not only did he talk with them, walk with them, pray with them and eat with them. He also continued to teach them prior to his ascention back to heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father as our advocate. When a Pastor/Preacher is praying and asking God for guidance as to what it is God would have him or her preach about to their congregations. They also must have a keen sense of what it is they want the people, the hears to do with the sermons information they receive.

At this point I'm sure you're wondering what it is I'm about to share with you from the Bible and then what I want you do after you have it in your posession. I'm look at scripture in the book of Luke starting in Chapter 8. There are three stories I want to direct your attention to that shows the power of God "at work in Jesus."First, in Luke Chapter 8 Verses 22 - 25 it shows the power of Jesus over nature. Secondly, in Luke Chapter 8 Verses 26 - 39 it shows His power over demons and then in Luke Chapter 8 Verses 40 - 56 scripture continues to show God's power at work in Jesus as the Master over sickness and death. Now, what do I want you to do with all of this once you take the time to read it? I want to you really begin to realize the POWER OF GOD through JESUS! He is all powerful, all loving, all conpassionate, all knowing and everything else I could possibly try and articulate. Our God is merciful and full of grace, while also being faithful. God healed my body of kidney cancer and I am now a fourteen year cancer survior living with one kidney. Most of you know my testimony, if not, take the time to get a copy of my book: The Gospel According To Rev. Walt "Baby" Love and get the complete story and testimony. That's why I want you to have a total understanding of God's power. God's Blessings.

In His Name,

Rev. Walt "Baby" Love

It's Holy Week For Us Christians

Mar 31, 2010 -- 10:37pm

For Christians around the world, this week is considered "Holy Week". It's all about our LORD and SAVIOR, Jesus Christ, the Son of God. This week we observe "Maundy Thursday", which kicks the week off beause that's the day/evening Jesus spent with His Disciples preparing to eat the Passover dinner. All Jews were getting ready for the Feast of Unleavened Bread, called the Passover. You can read all about in any of the Gospels, but I'm suggesting that you look and read all of Chapter 13 in the Book of John, which talks about how Jesus washed the feet of His "boys", that what I like to call them and then gets into what happened when they ate the "Last Supper' together. I'd also like you to take the time and look and read Luke Chapter 22 that tells you about Jesus preparing for the Passover; Jesus and the Disciples have their Last Supper; Jesus predicts Peter's denial; Jesus agonizes in the Garden; Jesus is betrayed and arrested; Peter denies knowing Jesus and finally the part where the council of elders condemns Jesus. If you haven't read these scriptures before. Please do so, but it will be a blessing to you.

In the Book of John, Jesus does something that blows the minds of His Disciples. He washes their feet, which is part of His teaching them by example. Part of what He was teaching was ultimate love. Love thy neighbor as thy self, is just one of Jesus' teachings in scripture. See what it says in John 13: 1 - 20.

Verse 1. It was just before the Passover Feast. Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he now showed them the full extent of his love.

2. The evening meal was being served, and the devil had already prompted Judas Iscariot, son of Simon, to betray Jesus.

3. Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God;

4. so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist.

5. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples' feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

6. He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, "Lord, are you going to wash my feet?"

7. Jesus replied, "You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand."

8. "No," said Peter, "you shall never wash my feet." Jesus answered, "Unless I wash you, you have no part with me."

9. "Then, Lord," Simon Peter replied, "not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!"

10. Jesus answered, "A person who has had a bath needs only to wash his feet; his whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you."

11. For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not every one was clean.

12. When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. "Do you understand what I have done for you?" he asked them.

13. "You call me 'Teacher' and 'Lord,' and rightly so, for that is what I am.

14. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet.

15. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.

16. I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.

17. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

18. "I am not referring to all of you; I know those I have chosen. But this is to fulfill the scripture; 'He who shares my bread has lifted up his heel against me.'

19. 'I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe that I am He.

20. I tell you the truth, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me."

Read, learn, enjoy and whatever you do...make sure you get understanding. Continue reading from here and learn more about the Holy Bible! That thursday before Jesus' crucifiction, the next day, which we in the Christian community know as Good Friday was an awesome day leading up to what Jesus did for all of humanity. Thank you Jesus for saving us...we who believe. I humbly ask that you continue to read and you will find where Jesus is crucified in John Chapter 19.

In His Name,

Walter

Psalm 20: 1 - 9

Mar 15, 2010 -- 9:18pm

Recently I read an article in Newsweek Magazine that was titled: Layoffs Are Bad For Business - The Downside of Downsizing by Jeffrey Pfeffer, which was very informative about what's really happening in corporate America and to our fellow citizens. I'm not going to quote the article, but I'd like to suggest that you look it up online and check it out for yourselves. I know for a fact it will certainly educate you about what our economic system is going through as it pertains to job opportunities or the lack there of. Our Law Makers/Elected Officials need to be concentrated on JOB creation; terrorism; education at every level and then health care. That's just my humble opinion as a Tax Paying citizen, ex-vet and Minister of God. When I see people at church, at hospitals visiting the sick and shut-in, talking to folks unemployed who come to the altar for prayer crying out for God to help them and asking me to pray with them for God's divine intervention. It moves you to the core of your being. It's called compassion for your fellow man and woman. Millions of people are hurting like I've never seen during my lifetime and the only answer for our country, our society per se' and the world is God's divine intervention because we as human beings need to repent of our sins and turn from our wicked ways. I know, I know, I know! Some of y'all are saying, "what's wrong with Walt?". Nothings wrong with Walt, God's Holy Spirit is speaking to me and convicing me to speak-up and speak-out on this subject at this time. From elected officials to corporate executives, the non-sense and greed needs to stop and it needs to stop right now because too many innocent people and families are being hurt and in some cases destroyed. The world in general has the same problems, but I'm concerned about our country, the country I love, the country whose military I served in, the United States Of America. We as Christians need to insist that we as a country put God back into our society and certainly back in our schools. In my opinion, more Christians need to stop being afraid and run for political office at every level and help get our country back on track. A good stiff dose of ethics would certainly be of benefit to our society. We as a people are facing a challenge like only our forefathers faced during the Great Depression, which the experts and history tells us was even worse. But, we are facing our misfortune because of some individuals personal greed, along with corporate greed as well. Something for all of us to think about. We as a society should not accept this type of evil demonic conduct within our midst. My father in the Ministry, Rev. L.K. Johnson who was the Founder and Pastor or the First House of Prayer in Chicago told me years ago before he when home to be with the Lord that I should read this scripture on a regular basis to help strengthen me to be strong in the LORD at all times. I pray it will help you as it continually helps me.

God's Blessings!

Walt "Baby" Love

Psalm 20: 1 - 9

1. May the LORD answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.

2. May he send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion.

3. May he remember all your sacrifices and accept your burnt offerings.

4. May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.

5. We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in the name of our God.

6. Now I know that the LORD saves his annointed; he answers him from his holy heaven with the saving power of his right hand.

7. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

8. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.

9. O LORD, save the king! Answer us when we call!

This is a Psalm of David. A prayer for victory during battle and we are certainly facing spiritual battle on a daily basis as Christians because Satan was to destroy us. the Bible tells us that Satan; the Evil One, comes to "kill, steal and destroy." We need God's word to help keep us strong and to give us the wisdom and knowledge to be a force for God and that he be Glorified. King David understood that our trust should be placed in the LORD as opposed to man's preceived power. This prayer can help us in our times of need when we are facing a difficult challenge.

Ephesians 5:8 - 20

Mar 04, 2010 -- 1:40pm

Trying to live as Children of God in today's greed filled world can be a difficult task. But, always remember this: ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE WITH GOD! That's why we as Christians have to stay in God's Holy Word, The Bible, while also staying prayed up to the max. As you know, prayer is our most powerful weapon and it's also our means of communication with God. We need to always ask Jesus to help us and to strengthen us in our walk with him daily. Walking in the light of Christ is one our goals. We want to become more Christ-like. The following scripture is just a little something I pray will help you hang tough.

Rev Walt

Ephesians 5:8 - 20

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (9) (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) (10) and find out what pleases the Lord. (11) Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. (12) For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. (13) But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, (14) for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said: "Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you." (15) Be very careful, then, how you live - not as unwise but as wise, (16) making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. (17) Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is. (18) Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. (19) Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, (20) always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 4: 8-9; 16-18

Mar 04, 2010 -- 1:39pm

Each week I'll have a little something from the Bible for you to read and digest into your spirit. It's meant to encourage you in the Lord and to help you increase your faith, while at all times holding on to HOPE! Our hope is in the Lord...Jesus Christ is that hope. Praise God!

2 Corinthians 4: 8-9; 16-18

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned, struck down, but not destroyed. Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
